Ms. Jo (Jo Kokri-Bhatt) was born in Spartanburg, SC on September 10th, 1982 to Dr. Manoj & Raji Bhatt of India. For over 10 years, beginning at age 6, she studied classical piano under Carol Starnes of Converse Pre-College, then Dr. Barbara Lister-Sink of Salem Academy & the Eastman School, akin to Julliard. Ms. Jo has won numerous music awards over time.
SINGING & CONTINING EDUCATION
Ms. Jo played clarinet 6 years, always ranking first 3 chairs, and began singing solo & in groups in high school. In college, she studied piano and voice under Dr. Tish Oney & Anne Denbow, both of USC-Upstate and nationally. When possible, she attends various music Master Classes & Workshops with the business’s finest: Brevard Music Center, Berklee Music College, Oberlin Music Conservatory etc.

Ms. Jo holds a Bachelor’s in Interdisciplinary Studies from USC-Upstate, with concentrations in Music and Business. She enjoys an active lifestyle of culture and travel with family and friends. Future goals include studio expansion, possibly marriage and children of her own.

Ms. Jo founded Homeworks Studio in 2010, teaching customized private lessons since 2004. She has performed on the West Coast and regionally since 1989 through classical recitals, concertos and later in life, contemporary music. May 2016 saw her exciting move to Charleston, SC for an opportunity to make a better living in music.

Ms. Jo is now pleased to offer other studio services, such as referrals to recording studios and recording original jingles. She focuses on teaching and performing and is happy to talk with you about any legitimate project.

HOMEGROWN GIRL
So I grew up in a little town called Spartanburg, South Carolina.
I have lived in 4 states and am back home in SC. I now live in Charleston, a larger city than my hometown. The music industry is certainly stronger in larger cities. Future networking may be there.
But in these days of the technological revolution, musicians don’t have to live in the largest cities to do great work or “be noticed” BY the industry. And of course, it’s more affordable to LIVE in a smaller place.
So I advocate travel and continued education. In May 2016, I moved to Charleston for a better living. I believe in and invest in the Lowcountry & beyond. Let’s develop our greatest assest, us. ~ Jo
